Nearly 100 volunteers from around New Hampshire were trained as new Destination Imagination Team Managers on Saturday at Merrimack Valley Middle School in Penacook. Team Managers are the adults who facilitate solutions to STEAM-based “D.I.” Challenges scored on creativity, communication, collaboration and problem solving skills. Topics included how not to interfere with a team created solution, think-on-their-feet skills in Instant Challenge, the Rules of the program and an overview of the world’s largest program of its type with over 200,000 students from 30 countries that participate each year.
A big THANK YOU to our special guest and morning keynote speaker, Johnny Wells, Director of Education for Destination Imagination who has just returned from giving similar training sessions to Team Mangers in China. He focused on the importance of the creative process – and how Team Managers play a critical role in developing these 21st Century skills by facilitating team members.
The day’s focus was simple: To be better prepared to have a successful year with their team!
