Transformation Station
Your team will dream up amazing characters, build props, and design great costumes this year. In this workshop, you will learn how face paint, body language, and simple movement skills will help you fully become the characters you create. You will discover fun ways to stand out on stage and bring your story to life.
Creative Connections
Back by popular demand with a new twist for 2026, this interactive workshop will let you put two and two together in fun ways. You will explore both temporary and permanent ways to connect things, including sewing, hook and loop fasteners, bolts, screws, brads, zip ties, and more. Using materials like aluminum, wood, and fabric, you will practice creative problem solving and learn new ways to build, join, and invent.
Build It Up
Build on your structure skills and take your creations to the next level. In this hands-on workshop, you will practice building smart and stable structures that can support props, scenery, and other elements of your performance. Learn techniques for strength, balance, and design while testing your ideas and improving your building strategies.
Write Right
Pack a punch with your paperwork in this hands-on workshop. You will learn how to make your written materials clear, concise, and easy to follow, because Appraisers can only score what they see on the page. Make sure every idea shines! We will also explore DI’s AI guidelines and discuss how AI tools may impact your team’s planning, writing, and creativity.
Stronger Together
Every DI’er knows that teamwork is the secret sauce to success, but what does it really look like in action? In this workshop, you will explore creative and fun ways to build a strong team that communicates well and uses each member’s strengths. You will also learn tools to get past brainstorming roadblocks and keep ideas flowing. Back by popular demand, this session is perfect for any team that wants to strengthen their teamwork and work even better together.
Potentially Precarious
Back by popular demand from last year, this workshop will explore the excitement of taking calculated risks. You will learn how to include potentially precarious elements while still meeting Challenge requirements, a skill especially useful for Engineering and Technical challenges. Teams will practice Risk Taking in different ways and explore creative approaches that go beyond the minimum, helping your presentations become more exciting and memorable.
Tech Talk: Tools and Ideas
In this hands-on workshop, you will explore beginner friendly tech tools and ideas. Learn how technical design can help you create fun features in your Central Challenge. You will build simple moving parts, test out your ideas, and see how your ideas can come to life. The ideas will be flying, so get ready for takeoff.
Tech Talk: Deeper DIve
For teams with more tech experience, in this hands-on workshop, you will dive deeper into the world of technical design and innovation. You will learn how to think like a designer by planning, testing, and improving technical elements that help your Central Challenge shine. Try out new tools, work with different materials, and show off your growing tech skills. Get ready to launch your ideas to the next level.
Out of the Shadows
Discover the magic of shadows in this hands-on workshop. You will explore fun and creative ways to cast and shape shadows. Learn techniques to add depth, movement, and a touch of mystery to your story. Teams will practice using shadows to bring action to life, enhance storytelling, and make their performances more dynamic and memorable.
Cardboard Creations: Beyond the Box
Unleash your creativity in this hands-on cardboard workshop! You will discover the best tools, explore different types of cardboard, and learn clever ways to cut, fold, and shape it. Turn ordinary boxes into amazing props, eye-catching structures, and inventive designs. With cardboard, the possibilities are endless. Think outside the box and bring your ideas to life!
Now You See It
What makes a good magic trick, and what makes one work well in a DI solution? In this workshop, you will explore how magic can surprise your audience and add excitement to your story. Learn the art of Sleight of DI to use fun deception without giving away your secret. You will also discover simple tricks and resources to help you add real magic to your presentation.
