8 New Hampshire Destination Imagination teams competed in the Destination Imagination Global Finals. held from May 22-25, 2025 in Kansas City, MO. Two teams finished in the top ten in their STEAM-based challenge, which brought teams from 12 countries and most states to compete.
The Mascoma Valley Regional High School “This Might Work” team placed third in the world in the improvisation challenge, blending detailed research, problem-solving, collaboration, presentation and performance amidst unknown elements given to the team during competition.
The Oyster River High School’s “Kandylicious Kids” team placed tenth in the world in their service learning challenge, which is designed to engage students in public service that addresses real-life community issues. Their solution also must leverage creativity, problem-solving, collaboration and performance elements.
Other teams competing included McKelvie Intermediate School and Ross A. Lurgio Middle School from Bedford, Grantham Village School, two teams from the Mascoma Valley Regional School District, Windham Center School and Oster River High School.
Destination Imagination Global Finals is a culmination of a year of teamwork and challenge-solving by over 125,000 students globally, and over 800 in New Hampshire.
Destination Imagination challenges teams to develop creative solutions to complex, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)-based or Service Learning challenges. New Hampshire Destination Imagination is a 501(c)3 non-profit that administers the program in the Granite State.
The New Hampshire teams competed in regional affiliate tournaments, demonstrating remarkable ingenuity in designing and presenting their solutions to advance to the global competition.
