With a heavy heart, we share the news of the passing of a beloved NH-DI member and supporter, Brenda Chase. Many of us knew her from her countless creative years supporting and coaching us through the Spontaneous/Instant Challenge portion of competitions. She lived a creative, compassionate, caring, and connected life sharing her joy with so many of the NH-DI alum.
Brenda literally taught hundreds of Team Managers and thousands of team members how to succeed at the seven minute, “think on your feet” portion of the competition. She taught how to embrace your personal and team creativity – and the time challenge itself.
Brenda was awarded the Spirit of Destination Imagination (Spirit of DI) award at the 2010 NH-DI State Affiliate Finals. In part, the award read: “We would like to award one to an individual who epitomizes the spirit, dedication and commitment of Team Managers everywhere. Team Managers who help teams hone their skills, inspire great solutions, and give their teams’ confidence and self assuredness. On behalf of all Team Managers, we would like to present this Spirit of DI Award to Brenda Chase”.
She was quickly surrounded by some of the team members she trained, with a standing ovation in the packed gym. Brenda shared her skills in New Hampshire, nearby states, and at the international level of Destination Imagination.
