Destination Imagination is an extracurricular program that uses Challenge based learning in science, technology, the arts, engineering, math and service learning to build skills in creativity, collaboration, communication – and strong personal confidence. Over 200,000 students in 30 countries and nearly every state participate in the program. This year, New Hampshire has over 3,000 students participating in the program.
Students compete within their own age group and their Challenge of choice. Team can select a challenge, each with a different focus including: Technical, Scientific, Fine Arts, Improvisational, Structural and Service Learning.
Dr. Chuck Cadle, CEO of Destination Imagination, Inc was visiting the New Hampshire event. At Opening Ceremony, Cadle stated that,”Destination Imagination… is the industry standard for 21st century learning programs… Our kids … learn management skills such as negotiations, presentations, and public speaking. They learn time and budget management. They learn how to plan and manage a project. In other words, they learn the creative process from imagination to innovation, and they are very special. And these are the skills that they need for college, career, and life.”
