Destination ImagiNation is counting down to its final event called Global Finals, which will take place from May 25 – 28, 2011 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. At Global Finals, 14,000 participants from the U.S. and more than 30 countries will showcase their creative solutions to Destination ImagiNation Challenges.
33 teams from New Hampshire, having out-created over 300 teams in Challenges that blend core school subjects with the arts, math, science, literature, technical and structural design or community service.
“These teams now must raise the funds to enable them to attend Global Finals,” according to NH Destination ImagiNation Media Relations Director Wayne Kurtzman. “For many teams, this means upwards of $10,000 needs to be raised just to send the students and their equipment”.
“The Destination ImagiNation community of students, parents, volunteers and educators helps conduct our exhilarating program year after year,” said Chuck Cadle, CEO of Destination ImagiNation. “Global Finals is a celebration of our community and our sponsors and partners, who have built Destination ImagiNation into the premier educational program it is today.”
Global Finals 2011 will feature more than a thousand of the top-scoring Destination ImagiNation teams from around the world. Sponsors like 3M, the National Dairy Council, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers and Volvo Construction Equipment will also be present to support the event and take part in the creativity.
“For many years, we have developed strong relationships with companies and organizations that view Destination ImagiNation as a vital program for preparing our youth for the world,” Cadle added. “Many of them will be present at Global Finals to take hands-on roles and sponsor special events. We are thrilled that they want to take part in Global Finals and interact with our amazing participants.”
Live video updates, interviews and photos from Global Finals 2011 will be published from the event and can be viewed at www.GlobalFinals.org.
