New Hampshire Destination ImagiNation (NH-DI), the state’s student creativity, teamwork and problem solving program is pleased to announce that is has selected a new affiliate director, Kara Swedlow. This past spring, NH-DI announced their affiliate director for over 25 years, Jill Schoonmaker, will step into a different role within the organization to allow her to pursue family and personal interests.
Ms. Swedlow has an extensive background in student-based programs, education, problem-solving and volunteerism. She has earned a Master of Science in Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Education and from the California Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Applied Science.
Through volunteer work with AmeriCorps*VISTA and the Peace Corps, she has been deeply involved with developing educational programs and has worked closely with both educators and volunteers. Her upbeat attitude and willingness to adapt to local conditions has led to positive results in programs that require real-world creative problem solving. Her work with Volunteer NH has allowed her to collaborate with organizations and individuals throughout New Hampshire.
Starting November 1, 2010, Ms. Swedlow will serve as the affiliate director of NH-DI. She will also have the position of executive director of NHICC: New Hampshire’s Incredible Creativity Connection, the non-profit organization that administers the Destination ImagiNation program in New Hampshire and operates the Camp Gottalikachallenge summer creativity camp.
