The schedule for NH-DI Appraiser training will depend on your Challenge and Appraiser role. Each team attending a tournament has two separate presentations:
- Team Challenge. Each team works for many weeks on their solution for one of the 7 different Team Challenges offered each year, and will present their solution at the tournament.
- Instant Challenge (IC). Teams do not know anything about their Instant Challenge until they enter the Instant Challenge room during the tournament, and have only a few minutes to solve it.
Each NH-DI appraiser will appraise one of these two types of Challenges (not both). The training for these two types of Challenges is different, and will take place in separate sessions.
Many of our training sessions will be conducted online using Zoom. Most sessions are offered twice: once on a weekday evening; once on the weekend. The schedule for each of these training sessions is listed below. Each session will require you to register in advance by clicking on the corresponding link below.

Team Challenge Appraiser Training
Team Challenge appraiser training is further divided into two categories:
- New Appraiser sessions for those who have not appraised before, or are in an Appraiser role they have not done before.
- DI-101 is a general introduction to the Destination Imagination program and appraising — all that have not appraised before should attend one of these sessions. Do this before you attend any of the following sessions.
- Scoring Teams. DI-101 introduces scoring of teams and how it is conducted. This course builds upon that by showing all new Scoring Appraisers how to score subjective items such as creativity.
- Prep is a specific course for Prep Area Appraisers. It covers both the prep process in the days prior to the tournament, and prep on the day of the tournament.
- Team Challenge specific sessions:
- Team Challenge appraisers will also need to learn about the Team Challenge they will be appraising this year.
- These sessions are organized according to Team Challenge rather than by Appraiser role.
- The Challenge Masters for your Team Challenge will notify you to let you know when and how this training will take place.
