Over 100 students from around the state convened on Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday to jumpstart their creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills as part of New Hampshire Destination Imagination’s (NH-DI) DIve In team member training event. Come March, they will join some 700 other Granite State students competing in STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) academic Challenges. In all, over 100,000 students globally will take part in the Destination Imagination program competition.

Students from grades K-12 took part in a variety of sessions to provide ways to build team dynamics and challenge-solving skills, as well as situational management and “think on their feet” abilities. Teams will compete in Challenges with different focus areas, including Technical, Scientific, Engineering, Fine Arts, Improvisational, and Service Learning. All solutions must be solved by the team alone. Offered is also a non-competitive Early Learning Challenge that allows participants to develop social and problem-solving skills.

“We were excited to welcome over 100 of New Hampshire’s most creative kids for a day of STEAM based interactive workshops designed to build their skills as they prepare for tournament season”, according to Jenna Caputo, NHICC Board Member and NH-DI Alumni Relations Coordinator.

“Our workshops were predominantly designed and facilitated by alumni of the program who shared their expertise and enthusiasm with the next generation of students. We are so grateful to Southern New Hampshire University for hosting our event, and their continued support of NH-DI”, said NHICC Board Member Jake Oudheusden, who also serves as both the NH-DI Alumni Relations Coordinator, and was recently voted as a DI International Alumni Council Member. “After a two year [in person] hiatus, it was wonderful to be back together celebrating teamwork and creativity!”
