What is beyond the incorporation of science, technology, engineering and math to students?  Using STEM, the arts, collaboration, presentation and communication skills to solve problems and to innovate is what every career needs today. And developing confidence to be self-reliant. These life skills are becoming core to all vocations, and it is what the over 3,000 participants in the non-profit New Hampshire Destination Imagination (NH-DI) will learn this year. In all, over 200,000 students in 30 countries will be doing the same.

This Saturday, over 100 volunteers from around the state will attend NH-DI Team Manager training. These volunteers will be learning skills that build the abilities to solve problems, manage projects, timelines and budgets, leverage research and knowledge, build communication and innovation skills – but they can’t help students solve the open-ended Challenges in which they are competing. (That makes the training more interesting!).

In March, student teams will solve Challenges in the several areas including: Technical, Scientific, Structural, Fine Arts, Improvisational, and Service Learning. There is also a non-competitive early learning challenge.

The training gets very visual (making for good photos) as many of the methods are hands-on training.
