Over 50 new Destination Imagination Team Managers, the adult volunteers that facilitate the creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills gained in the after-school “D.I.” program were trained Saturday at Pembroke Academy.
“My biggest take-away from today would be that it is okay for the team to fail”, according to DI alum and first-time Team Manager Anna Correia. “They [the team] are learning lessons that will last for a lifetime. Celebrate your team!”
Team Managers learned how to get teams to better identify skills in each other, build teamwork, reviewed the rules and resources of the “DI” program, also being done by students in 30 countries.
The volunteers trained today will be able to guide an additional 350 students, among the 3,000+ participating in New Hampshire this year.
Training for all Team Managers, including additional training for first-timers will be on November 12th at Merrimack Valley Middle School in Penacook.
