Registration and Orientation should be your first stop upon reaching campus. Inside the TRECS Center, you will be directed to a waiting area where chairs, water and other amenities will be provided for you. Opening Ceremony

Volunteer at Opening Ceremony
Opening Ceremony is our official start to Global Finals that celebrates you and all your accomplishments. Opening Ceremony begins with an Opening Parade featuring thousands of cheering team members and spectators. It’s big, it’s colorful, it’s loud—and it ends with a fireworks show! Featured Speaker: Dr. Paul Nussbaum is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist in the state of Pennsylvania, and he is currently an adjunct Professor in Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Nussbaum educates the general public on the basics of the human brain and how to keep the brain healthy over the entire lifespan. He has presented his views on brain health at the United Nations and National Press Club, and his books on brain health include 2010’s Save your Brain and 2009’s Your Brain Health Lifestyle: Application to the School, Library, Corporate Setting, and Home.

Improv Fiesta features two improv stages, where audience members will be selected to perform improv games with a high school team. No registration is needed. The event also features a performance stage, where teams can do short performances, skits, songs or dances. Teams must register via e-mail prior to Global Finals. Elementary and middle school participants must be accompanied by adults.Use your creativity (and as much duct tape as you need) to create your costume, and come join a live band for this fantastic event. We’ll be putting the spotlight on creative costumes that feature 3M duct tape and the “International” theme, so bring your team and enjoy music, dancing and all the fabulous costumes!

DISC Friday Fun Night

Friday Fun Night is a benefit evening to support Destination ImagiNation scholarships. Get ready for a night of fun and adventure—for a good cause! On Friday night, Team Managers, moms, dads, grandparents, siblings and DI participants will take on outrageous Challenges together to help raise funds for the Destination ImagiNation Scholarship Committee (DISC). Every year, DISC raises money to fund scholarships for DI alumni. Your participation will help DISC offer more scholarships than ever! The event will include the following events: The Internationally Notorious Family Camp Registration available on www.shopdi.org in early March. This camp is an opportunity for Team Managers, moms, dads, grandparents, siblings and DI-ers to take on outrageous Challenges together! Not only is it notorious for being the best deal in town, but every year this spectacular assortment of fun causes multigenerational creative combustion that you’ll be laughing and talking about for weeks to come! Purchase tickets in advance on www.shopdi.org. Team Managers and Officials (TM&O) Challenge This event is a chance for the adults to have some fun! Pre-registration for the Challenge will take place on the Global Finals website before May 21. Pre-registration will continue at the DISC Booth during Global Finals and prior to Friday’s festivities. There is no fee to participate in the TM&O, but donations are welcome. See the TM&O Challenge section for more information. The 3M Exploration Challenge For DISC Friday Fun Night, the 3M Exploration Challenge will be open to adult attendees! Come try the Challenge for yourself, and help DISC raise money for scholarships! Pay attention as the event nears: this will be a limited engagement. There will be no fee to participate, but donations are welcome.

Check-in at 6:45 p.m.Our Graduation Ceremony is a very special event provided for all high school seniors and college students receiving degrees. Check-in is at 6:45 p.m., and the ceremony begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. Most participants wear caps and gowns or dressier clothing. There will be also be a group photo opportunity immediately following the ceremony.To sign up for this special event, complete and submit the High School and College Graduation Registration Form online at the Global Finals website, where you can also apply to be the ValeDIctorian! Don’t forget to submit your photo!
